He was predeceased by: his parents, Austin Kiefer and Edna Kiefer (Fischer); his wife Betty (Haines); his son Robert Jr.; and his siblings, Elaine, Phyllis, Patricia, Joyce and Edward.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Martin (Mike), Pamela Kendell (Jeff), Stephen, Theresa, James (Cathy) and Kevin; his siblings, Betty Pletcher and Joseph (Becky); and his grandchildren, Chad, Dan, Jennifer, Christy, Emily, Erin, Adam, Bobby, Elaine, Megan, Heather, Lauren and Chase. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in Robert's name to the St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery restoration fund in care of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Elkhart, Ind.
