He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth G. Mason and Ruth G. Mason (Moser); his wife Martha Turner; his stepchildren, Lois "Jean" Searfoss and Robert Phelps Jr.; his siblings, Norma Rapp, James Mason, Betty Clipp, Mary Reed, Gordon "Wayne" Mason, Ruth Carol Lebello and Charles Mason; his granddaughter Laura Watson; and his great grandchildren, Emerson LaCluyse and Amanda Watson.
He is survived by: his children, Aaron Mason (Angie) of Osceola and Cindy Summeier of Mishawaka; his stepchildren, Vicky Grafton (Arch), James Phelps (Judy) of Mishawaka, Marie Curths (Richard) of Florida and Dawn Summeier (Ray) of Florida; his children-in-law, Kathy Phelps and Will Searfoss; his grandchildren, Laura LaCluyse (Garret), Andrew Mason, Raelyne Summeier, Jason Grafton (Crystal), Audrey Searfoss, Guy Searfoss (Tina), Robert Phelps III (Staci), Amber Phelps, Jessica Russell (Todd), Wesley Osmon (Priscilla), Kristee Aldora (Justin) and Joshua Emmans; and his siblings, Roger Mason (Stella) of Elkhart, Richard Mason of Osceola, Nancy Barrier of Tennessee and Nina Tom of Osceola.
