He was predeceased by: his parents, Elymus Carrell and Matilda Carrell (Rothemeier); and his siblings, Donna Gostley, Eli, Wilford and Kenneth Carrell.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Marie Carrell (Lottes); his children, Kathy Peckenpaugh (Jim) of Evansville and Thomas Carrell (Dee) of St. Paul, MO; and his grandchildren, Amy Walker (Rodney), Jason Peckenpaugh (Mary), Eric Peckenpaugh (Brittany), Doug Wulff, Steven Carrell, Lauren Carrell and David Carrell (Kelly).

Due to the pandemic, visitation and funeral services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church will be private.
