She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. James E. Gillis and Ann Gillis of Florida; her husband Elvoy; her son Lonnie G. Bell Jr.; her siblings, Judith McClain, Marilyn Hornes, Cherry Gillis, Rashida Arnold (Donna Gillis), James, George, Charles and Paul Gillis; and her grandson Lonnie III.

She is survived by: her daughter Sonja Bell; her brother W. Freeman Gillis of Rohnert Park; her granddaughter Brianna Eastwood; and her pet Hazel. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a dedicated member of the Lincoln Clark Alumni Association and the Dystonia Foundation.
