He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Straub and Sylvia Straub (Bauer); his siblings, Betty Richter, Sylvester, Francis and Bob Straub; and his siblings-in-law, Rick Richter and Laura Beth Straub.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Straub (Niemeier); his children, Jane Elpers (Mike), Dennis Straub (Kim) and Scott Straub (Kendra); his sister-in-law Darlene Straub; his grandchildren, Emily Tomlinson (Dave), Madalyn Schenk (Tom), Grant Elpers, Damon Straub (Alyssa), Devon Straub, Julia Straub, Casey Straub, Courtney Straub and Lexie Straub; and his great grandchild Alex Tomlinson.
