He was predeceased by : his parents, Francis "Booby" Maurer and Bettye Maurer (Waterman); his siblings, Kenny Maurer (Annette), Rose Loehrlein and Rita Ziliak; and his brother-in-law Vernon Helmling.

He is survived by : his children, Ashley Gaiser (Scott) and Ryan Maurer (Laura); his grandchildren, Landon, Ellison Gaiser and Jasper Maurer; his siblings, Paul Maurer (Patty), John Maurer (Gail), Donald Maurer (Holly), Stephen Maurer (Karen), Judy Helmling, Mary Maurer and Dorothy Kuper (Mike); and his brothers-in-law, Mark Loehrlein and Mark Ziliak. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and close friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 16th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, May 17th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass was held on Friday, May 17th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church - County (6202 W St Joseph Rd, Evansville, IN 47720). A burial was held on Friday, May 17th 2024 from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM at the St. Joseph Cemetery - County (6202 W St Joseph Rd, Evansville, IN 47720).
