He is survived by: his wife Henrietta Mims of Fort Wayne; his children, Walter Mims (Shenell) of Holland and Stacey Holmes (Donald) of Fort Wayne; his grandchildren, James Hopkins, Demarco Hopkins (Alisha), Raeshon Sanders and Jaden Mims; his great grandchildren, Tairaj Javion Rutledge, Demarco Jr., Dayla Hopkins and Jada Burris; his siblings, Clara Brooks of Fort Wayne, Sarah Mims of Fort Wayne and Willie Mims of Fort Wayne; his brothers-in-law, Nathan Childs (Ann) of Fort Wayne, Roosevelt Childs (Kim) of Fishers, Sam Walker of Detroit, George Childs (Cynthia), Barbara Patrick, Beatrice Scott (William), Sallie Childs, Betty Childs of Detroit, Dorothy Taylor (Curly) of Dayton, Corean Arrington of Selma, Jessie Mae Walker and Mary Frances Walker; and his godchildren, Johnny Childs (April) of Phoenix, Gwendolyn Hogue of Phoenix and Emma Allen of Phoenix. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
