He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Gumbert and Emma Gumbert; and his brother Paul Jr. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his children, Lisa Reinke (Alan), Lori Mayers (Mark), Michelle Richey (Keith), Angela Emenhiser (Terry) and Ronnie Parrish; his grandchildren, Erica Decker (Luke), Mariah Emenhiser (Ray), Jessica Reinke, Alec Emenhiser (Bree), Keila Emenhiser, Griffin McFarland, Brienna Reinke and Emma Mayers; his great grandchildren, Grayson Eicher, Braxton Eicher and Bentley Eicher; and his sister Joy Conrad.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to cancer research.
