He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Abels and Helen Abels; and his siblings, Gloria Abels and Gene Abels. He is survived by: his wife Ruth; and his sons, Gary (Irene), Gregg (Lynda), Glenn, Robert and Guy (Denise). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Southside Optimist Club, Allen County SPCA, or St. Joseph United Methodist Church.
