It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James W. Slate (Fort Wayne, Indiana), born in Marshalltown, Iowa, who passed away on July 14, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clinton Slate and Mollie Slate; his siblings, Amos Eli Slate and Hazel Ream; and his brother-in-law Donald Raupfer.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra J. Slate of Fort Wayne; his children, Michael Slate of Las Vegas, NV, Edward Eckels (Terri) of Leo, IN, Steven Slate (Jenifer Peterson) of Fort Wayne, Kellie Vitcavage (Alan) of Hallowell, ME and Denise Bliss of Phoenix, AZ; and his siblings-in-law, Michael Harris (Irene) of Fort Wayne and Karen Raupfer of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
