He was predeceased by: his siblings, Wanda Lee Hampton, John Coil and Warner Albert Coil. He is survived by: his spouse Bonnie Louise Shultz; his children, Tammy Marshall of Wasilla and Ernie Coil of Huntertown; his brothers, Jesse Coil of Crawfordsville and Harry Malcolm Coil of Fort Wayne; and also Jaye Marshall of Wasilla. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
