He was predeceased by: his wife Nettie Ruth; his son Edwin; his parents, Richard Sr. and Margaret; his stepmother Fannie Ditaway; his siblings, Asberry Ditaway, Carrie Hayden and Sarah Garrett; and his daughter-in-law Tammie Ditaway.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Ditaway, Jared Ditaway, Elaine Darby and Charlotte Moore; and his sisters, Bertha Bates and Alice Harris. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
