He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, H. K. Foster and Olive Ruth Foster (Sands); his wife Sue Buchanan (Smith); his children, Beverly Foster of Franklin and Mike Foster (Marta) of Greenwood; his stepsons, Curt Buchanan (Margie) of Franklin, Chris Buchanan of Franklin and Craig Buchanan (Diane) of Indianapolis; his grandson Craig Foster of Myrtle Beach; and his stepgrandchildren, Courtney VanWinkle (John), Carley Buchanan, Trent Buchanan, Amy Buchanan, Leanne Simpson (Wes), Kyle Buchanan and Jessica Buchanan. He was also cherished by four step-great grandchildren.
