He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Root and Sylva Root (Dennis); his wife Joan Root; his son Bradley Jon Root; his sisters, Martha Jane Schoeff (Marshall) and Carolyn Root; and his brother-in-law Allen Briskey.
He is survived by: his significant other Joan Pieper of Freelandville, IN; his children, Pamela Summers (Bradley), Tammy Root and Douglas Robin Root; his grandchildren, Brett Summers, Michael Root (Ashley), Philip Root, Jenna Heavner (Joel), Kristi DeBoeuf (Cody), Taylor Hoops (Josh), Katie Morrison and Bridger Morrison; his great grandchildren, Keaton Summers, Colette Heavner, Smith Heavner, Evelyn Heavner, Hattie DeBoeuf, Remi DeBoeuf, Jovey Robin DeBoeuf, Charlotte Root, Lillian Root and Lynleigh Hoops; and his siblings, Kay Briskey, William Root (Linda) and Floyd Root Jr.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
