He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen A. Bates and Betty June Bates (Buehling); and his siblings, Gary Bates and Donna Lane. He is survived by: his wife Barbara E. Bates (Rogers); his sons, R. Wayne Bates, James C. Bates and Christian L. Bates; his siblings, Kim Bates and Myra Bates; his sisters-in-law, Patricia Martin (Brendan) and Judith Roberts (Dick); his grandchildren, Amelia, Thomas and Mason; and his great grandchildren, Brenleigh, Maeve, Theo and Xavier.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel (1780 W Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
