She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore and Alice Hildebrand (Rein); and her siblings, Arlene, Terry, Marge, John, Harold and Leland.
She is survived by: her husband Dennis Jakel; her daughter Leslie; her son-in-law Robert Tesch; her grandsons, Adam, Evan and Owen Tesch of Charlotte, NC; her son Todd Jakel of Chicago, IL; and her siblings, Dallas (Sue), Gary (Debra), Keith (Joyce) and Penny Stadele. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In her memory, donations may be made to two organizations that were close to Bernice's heart and played a vital role in the health and well-being of her family: St. Elizabeth Coleman Pregnancy & Adoption Services, and the Riley Children's Foundation, directed toward congenital heart research.
