He was predeceased by: his parent Eva Austin (Carol Austin); and his siblings, Kenneth Austin and Ruth Ann Horton. He is survived by: his daughters, Tori A. Austin of San Antonio and Karla R. Helm (Troy A.) of Muncie; his grandchildren, Jacob Trevino, Kiera Matel (Sam) and Kortney Helm; and his great grandchild Noah A. Matel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
