He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack J. Hughes, and Edna Hughes, Sr. (Garbert); his daughter Dwan McCune; and his brothers, Thomas Hughes and Barry Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Story; and his children, Jack "Jay" Hughes, III of Peru, IN, Debra Schaefer (Kerry) of Roanoke, IN and Dianna Bates of Huntington, IN. He is also survived by one sister, Marsha Persell, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to American Heart Association or Cancer Services of Huntington County in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN, 46750.
