He was predeceased by: his father Roy McKinney. He is survived by: his children, David McKinney (Carla), Trina McKinney and Terry Grider (Mark); his grandchildren, Stephen Miller (Jocelyn), Brandon Oakes (Heather), Samantha Grider (Colin), Kendall Cline, Nicholas Grider (Angel) and Robert Cline II; his great grandchildren, Oliver Oakes, Keair Cline and Kinsleigh Holmes; and his siblings, Dolores Noyes, Roy McKinney, Mildred Abbott and Butch McKinney.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request contributions in Melvin's name be donated to Hosparus of Southern Indiana or Alzheimer's Association.
