He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Thompson and Marie Thompson (Dotson); his sons, Raymond and John Donald; and his sisters, Carolyn and Beverly Sue.
He is survived by: his wife Gaye Lynn Acker; his stepchildren, Kyla Thompson-Wakefield (Mark) and Deena Thompson-Willis (Doug); his granddaughter Jillian Willis; his siblings, Marilyn Fields of Indianapolis, William Thompson (Marjorie) of Columbia, TN, Jack D. Thompson (Jacqueline) and Ron Thompson (Susan) of Bruceville, IN; his stepdaughters, Julie Bicknell Rolley (Barry) and Rae Jean Bicknell; and his stepgranddaughters, L'Erin Twitty, Terrin Caldwell and Jessica Dennis. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.
