He is survived by: his partner Margitta Boyle; his daughters, Penelope Adams Moon, Margaret Stuart, Katrina Thandi and Melinda Adams; and his siblings, John Adams, Thomas Adams and Kathleen Ziege. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
