He was predeceased by: his mother Nettie Evelyn Stroud Sr. (Swink); his wife Vivian Louise Waggoner; his father Alfred Sr.; his sister Maxine Richey; and his grandson Bryan Stroud.

He is survived by: his children, Judith Ann DeGroff (Thomas) of Lafayette, David W. Stroud (Jo) of Lafayette and Jeffrey B. Stroud (Jill Selby) of Lafayette; his brother Dale Stroud (Nanni); and his grandchildren, Jamie Didomenico, Sheila DeGroff, Levi Stroud, Meghann Carrigan and Marissa Stroud. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
