He was predeceased by: his father Vern Root; and his siblings, Jean Aldrich and Samuel G. Root. He is survived by: his mother Anne Root (Paine) of Spring Arbor, MI; his children, Samuel K. Root, Katherine Root and Christopher Root; and his siblings, Jonathan Root, Margaret Hinkle, Julia Wildasin, Judith Berry, Sara Haviland, Miriam Lewis, Stephen Root and Andrew Root. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
