Smith (Shidler); his wife Bonnie O'Brien Best (Kingma); his sons, Jeffrey Best (Lana) and Douglas Best (Tracy); his stepchildren, Leif O'Brien (Amanda) and Keavy McCoy West (Ryan); and his grandchildren, Alex, Allyson Best, Courtney, Casey Best, Noah, Zachary O'Brien, Ryne McCoy and Gabriel West.
