He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Claude Shumate and Maude Shumate (Tindel); his wife Barbara Virgin; his sons, Michael E. Shumate of Carmel, Richard A. Shumate of Lafayette and Mark D. Shumate of Lafayette; and his grandsons, Kody, Drew and Nicholas.
