He was predeceased by: his parents, James Henry and Ruby Cox (Smith); and his grandson Lloyd Gates. He is survived by: his wife Judy Cox (Sheets) of Lafayette, Indiana; his daughters, Connie Gates (Mike) of Darlington, Cathy Hall (Ed) of West Lafayette, Cindy Cox of Lafayette, Carla Chitwood (Jerry) of Homosassa and Dee Ann Mulvey (Robert) of Lafayette, Indiana; and his siblings, Carolyn Smith of Dayton, Indiana and Don Cox of Lafayette. He is also survived by Eleven grandsons; three granddaughters; eight great grandsons; four great granddaughters; one great-great grandson.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of the donor's choice.
