He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathaniel Moxley and May Moxley (Miller); his former wife Ramona Moxley (Greubel); his stepson Anthony; his wife Minnie Stephens; and his brother Harold Moxley.

He is survived by: his son James Moxley, Jr. (Melissa); his grandchildren, Kristopher and Sadie Moxley; and his former wife Nancy Mallory.
