He was predeceased by: his parents, Gale Summers and Florence Summers (Richard); and his brothers, Jim and Bill Summers. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Farney; his children, Gail Summers of Lafayette, Scott Summers (Rhonda) of Romney, Missy Oakley (Mike) of Lafayette and Mindy Huffines (Donny) of Lafayette; his siblings, Denny Summers of Lafayette and Jackie Herlin of Monee, IL.; his grandchildren, Cody Summers, Alissa Klinker, Courtney Oakley, Cassie Shives, Austin Oakley, Collin Huffines, Kallie Douglas, Caitlin Huffines, Heath Oakley and Colton Huffines; and his great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brynlee Summers, Kamryn Klinker, Raelynn and Paisley Shives.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Michael's name to the Alzheimer's Association or Arrowhead Bowl Youth Bowling Program.
