He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross E. Chinn and Bessie Chinn (Wolford); his children, Mary Delores Shoaf, Raymond Ross Chinn and Joseph Chinn; and his daughter-in-law Marcia Chinn.

He is survived by: his former wife Margaret M. Rex; his wife Barbara; his children, Jim Chinn (Jacque) of Williamsport, IN and Trudy Beckett (Glenn) of Williamsport, IN; and his stepchildren, Sharon Rennick (Ron) of Williamsport, Lisa Reitz (Ed) of Williamsport, IN, Cheryl Norman (Rodney) of Kingman, IN, Missy Simonton (Troy) of Lafayette, IN, Becky Briles (Bernie) of Fowler, IN and Tim Titus (Dorothy) of Greensburg, IN. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
