He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph V. Smith and Anna Mae Brown Smith; his wife Wanda J. Clark; and his siblings, Roland Smith, Clifton Smith, Sharon Sandefur and Donna Martin.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah D. Hardesty (Mickey Lumley), Tammy L. Franklin (Craig) of Lafayette and Robert E. Smith (Jeannette) of Lafayette; and his brother Fred Smith (Rose) of Tavares, Florida.. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren.
