He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Watterson and Helen Watterson (Rhode); and his wife Joyce Brittingham (Holladay). He is survived by: his children, Phillip Watterson (Leisa) of Kewanna, IN and Shannon Jordan (Johnson) of Conover, NC; his grandson Jackson Jordon; and his brother Tom Watterson.

He also did charity work and events for children while living in San Diego.
