He was predeceased by : his parents, Floyd Brattain and Geraldine Crosby (Jones); his former life partner Elsie "Mickey" Kreiger; and his siblings, Kay McBroom, Carolyn Schnieder, Beverly Sue Mitchko and Floyd Dale Brattain.

He is survived by : his son William "Scott" Brattain; his daughter-in-law Mary Brattain of Shelbyville; his daughter Pamela Brattain of Greensburg; and his grandson Jake Brattain of Shelbyville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
