He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Lawton Caten, Sr. and Sarah Lucille Caten (Brown); his niece Martha Jane Mertz; and his brother-in-law John David Potter, Sr.. He is survived by: his sisters, Dorothy Potter of Henderson, TN and Evelyn Mertz of Muncie; and his nieces and nephews, Maria Hoyt (Jerry), John David Potter, Jr. (Lisa), Michelle Mann (Steve), Andrew Mertz and Molly Hemmings (Christopher Brighton).
