He is survived by: his wife Clare Richardson Biedenharn; his sons, Jay and Robert Biedenharn (Andrea); and his siblings, Richard E. Biedenharn (Beth) and Paula Emory. He is also survived by three grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.
