He is survived by: his wife Joyce Shelton; his children, David Metcalf (Patricia), John Shelton Jr. (Christy), Charles Pepper and Jerry Pepper (Angel); and his siblings, Tater Shelton, Tooie Shelton and Freddie Shelton. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
