He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Shields and Ida Carlton Shields; and his brothers, Jerry and Travis Shields. He is survived by: his children, Rondle Shields (Lori) of Colorado, Jeff Shields of Clarksville, IN, Jason Shields (Shannon) of Sellersburg, IN, Roger Smallwood (Teresa) of Sellersburg and Rebecca Coots Higdon (Garey) of Prospect, KY; his sister Jeanette Will of Clarksville; his grandchildren, Ryan, Tara, Jeffrey, Karessa, Kaitlea, Jamison, Braxton, Dillon, Taylor, Tanner, Preston and Logan; and his sisters-in-law, Sandra Phillips (Claude) and Ruby Kasper (Charlie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
