With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Gene Wood of Noblesville, Indiana, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Gene left this world on October 5, 2025 at the age of 84, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Zan Wood and Edna Wood; his sister Lorraine Cragun (Dale); his great grandchild Carson Burtner; and his nieces, Judy Simpkins and Deletta Cragun.
He is survived by: his wife Bernice Wood of Noblesville; his children, Angie Thomas (Don), Lisa Highbaugh (Mark), Lori Shields (Kent) and Chris Gonzalez (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Cody Burtner (Sarah), Ryan Stout, Zach Stout (Molly), Cara Mobley (Michael), Emma Blackwell (Zach), Sara Highbaugh, Mike Gonzalez, Caroline Gonzalez, Jake Gonzalez, Claire Gonzalez and Nick Gonzalez; his great grandchildren, June Burtner, Jackson Stout, Lincoln Stout, Lily Stout, Mikey Mobley, Merick Mobley, Coltin Mobley, Asher Mobley, Willow Mobley and Quentin Blackwell; and his former wife Nancy Beymer (late Floyd). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A reception will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel (400 E Main St, Gas City, IN 46933). Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
