He was predeceased by: his mother Mattie Elizabeth Gilliatt; and his son Jonathan. He is survived by: his father-in-law Dr. Charles X. McCalla III; his wife Kate McCalla-Gilliatt; his children, Robert Gilliatt Jr. (Penny), Michele Gilliatt Block (David) and Sarah Maze Peters (Curt); and his grandchildren, Jeremy Ashley (Holly), Kylee Kellams (Brandon), Kelsey Gilliatt, Kinley Block, Selena, Dacy and Ebke Peters.
