It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Lou Whitmer of Portage, Indiana, born in New Albany, Indiana, who passed away on July 1, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, William Grant and Lola Grant (Johnson); her husband Howard Whitmer; her son Brian Garner; and her siblings, Shirley Sanchez, Nancy Clark, Ray Grant and Charles Grant.

She is survived by : her children, John Garner, Jr., Shelly Hunnicutt (Harold), Patricia Lagerstrom and Debra Richards (Tom); and her siblings, Briggs Clark, Dot Guess, Inez Gutierrez and Bubbie Jackson. She is also survived by several grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and dear friends.
