It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carrie Grethel Purcell (Ramsey, Indiana), who passed away on August 13, 2020, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hewitt L. Wilkerson and Sadie Ellen Wilkerson (Nunn); her husband George Maurice Purcell; her siblings, Elizabeth Pauline Williams (Wilkerson), Ramonia Ann Foley (Wilkerson), Martha V. Wilkerson, Howard Cecil Wilkerson and Roy Franklin Wilkerson; her siblings-in-law, Cordell Byrne (Purcell), Donna Wilkerson (Utz), Beverly Wilkerson (Hood), Donald L. Fisher and James R. Foley; and her grandchildren, Carrie Ruth Purcell and Jason Daryl Purcell.
She is survived by: her children, George Michael Purcell (Mayetta) of New Salisbury, Jerry David Purcell of Depauw, John C. Purcell (June) of Corydon and Virginia Ellen Morris (Robert) of New Salisbury; her sister Dorothy L. Fisher (Wilkerson) of Safety Harbor, FL; her sister-in-law Sharon Wilkerson (Stewart) of Seminole, FL; her brother Leonard Wilkerson of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Michael T. Purcell, Bob Purcell (Tina), Barry Purcell (Angela), John Daniel Purcell (Stacey), Amy Purcell-Fessel, Christopher Morris (Fan), Melissa Czolgosz (Russell) and Sara Burks (Christopher); her great grandchildren, Brandon Purcell (Ai), Mason Miller, Sophia, Spencer, Sullivan Purcell, Gabrielle, Garrett Fessel, Connor, Levi Czolgosz and Porter Morris; and her great great grandchildren, William, Winston and Henry Purcell. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy in her memory to the WHAS Crusade for Children via the Ramsey, IN Volunteer Fire Department, a charity our mother always treasured.
