He was predeceased by: his brother Joshua Wayne Mathews; his grandparents, Wayne, Muriel Mathews and Richard E Jones; and his cousin Kassandra C Mathews.

He is survived by: his parents, Rod D Mathews and Patricia J Mathews; his brother Jon Mathews (Rowena); his sibling's children, Joel, Bennett, Ellis, Brooke and Delaney Mathews; and his grandmother Jean Jones. He is also survived by several uncles, aunts and cousins.
