With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Eleanor Shirley Freed of Rome, Indiana, born in Ames, Iowa, who passed away on September 8, 2021 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Kenneth R. Marvin and Eleanor Morning Marvin; her husband Lewis Freed; her sons, David of Lafayette and Mark (Brooke Harrison) of Mt. Pleasant, MI; her sisters, Celia and Janis; and her grandson Jacob.

Those wishing to celebrate Shirley's life are encouraged to make a donation in her name to Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness (friends-bwac.org), one of her favorite charities.
