He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Fernung and Magdelena Fernung (Kreis); and his brother John Fernung. He is survived by: his daughters, Shannon Hall (Greg) of Zionsville and Shawna Thomas (Jeff) of Noblesville; his grandchildren, Braden Hall, Bailey Hall, Holden Thomas, Maddux Thomas and Adeline Thomas; his siblings, Jerry Fernung (Barbee) of Sharpsville, Linda Warner of Kokomo and Brent Fernung (Crystal) of Ocala, Florida; and his siblings' children, Kyle Fernung (Melinda), Scott Warner (Jeanette), Kory Fernung (Danalee), Shari Castor (Tyler), Casey Bradford (Garrett), Andrew Fernung (Calli) and Nicole Agasar (Andrew).
