It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Gene Hughes of Shelbyville, Indiana, born in Flat Rock, Indiana, who passed away on April 22, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Fred "Brigg" Hughes and Alma Hughes (Ropp); his wife Margaret Hughes (Rumple); his daughter Susie Hughes; his brother Harold Hughes (Dottie); his brother-in-law Robert Forrest; and his grandson Anthony Pavlatos.

He is survived by : his daughters, Diana Powell of Shelbyville and Sherri Buchli (Bernie) of Bruce, Wisconsin; his siblings, Wayne Hughes (Bertha) of Shelbyville and Peggy Forrest of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Alanna Dolinski, Zachery Powell and Nicole Pavlatos; and his great grandchildren, Cora Altic, Kelby Altic, Clara Altic, Kennedy Altic, Everett Dolinski, Oliver Dolinski, Daxton Powell and Lucy Powell. He is also survived by 3 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.
