He was predeceased by : his parents, George Franklin and Mildred Franklin (Farrow); his spouse Lou Ann Franklin (Pope); and his sisters, Lee Metz and Karen Waltz.

He is survived by : his daughter Vicki Franklin of Shelbyville; and his granddaughter Jennessa Franklin-Saylor (Dusty) of Ft. Myers, FL. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
