He was predeceased by : his parents, George Dewey Slaven and Mary Ann Slaven (Daffron); his wife Joyce Allene Slaven (Woody); his son Oran Eugene Slaven; and his grandson Jeremy Lee Slaven.

He is survived by : his children, Donald Slaven (Anita) of Shelbyville, Michael Slaven (Thresa) of Morristown and Chastity Crain (Joseph) of Shelbyville. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
