He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Hopkins and Lillian Hopkins (Flint); his siblings, Gerald, Kenneth, Paul Hopkins and Pauline Smith; and his brothers-in-law, Bill Spencer and Dwight Hensley.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Carol Hopkins (Spencer); his children, Kimberly Leap of Michigan City and James Robert "Jim" Hopkins, Jr. (Trudy) of Sheridan; his granddaughter Sanda Batrincea of Moldova; his sister Mable Clark; and his siblings-in-law, Fred Spencer (Sandra), Sandy Spencer and Nancy Hensley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the Six Points Church.
