He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Carpenter and Versa Carpenter; and his sister Patricia Nicholson. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Carpenter; his sons, Roger Carpenter Jr. (Kerry) and Ronnie Carpenter (Alisha); his grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Liam, Noah and Sadie; and his siblings, Priscilla Foreman and Scott Dingman (Charlane).

Memorials may be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
