He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Carlson and Laura Carlson (Murphy); and his siblings, Walter Carlson Jr., Mary Alice Carlson, Mary Martha Carlson and Richard Carlson.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley A. Carlson; his sons, John Carlson (Sue) and James Carlson (Katie); his grandsons, Zachary Carlson, James Carlson (Jamie) and Nathanael Carlson; his sisters, Arlene Carlson, Carol Schelbert and Pam Bierbaum (Jim); his sister-in-law Shirley E. Carlson; and his siblings' children, Mark Schelbert, Laura, Dave Pettifor, Christy Rodgers (Mark), Heather Edds (Kenneth), Ryan Carlson (Katie), Carol Hamilton and Chuck Bierbaum (Lori).
