He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Choitz and Helena Pflughoeft Choitz; his wife Martha J. Carr; and his siblings, John, Otto, Walter Choitz, Elsa Choitz and Clara Choitz Tischer.
He is survived by: his daughter Leslie Choitz of South Bend; his brother Harold Choitz of Rochester, Michigan; and his sibling's children, Ruth Nieboer (K. C.), Patricia Grundke (Art), Nancy Lorimer (Bill), Carolyn Cole (Dan), Jim Ward (Lin), Jim Choitz, Steve Choitz (Becky) and Paul Choitz (Becca).
